Fire Season Readiness

Is your property ready for fire season?

In Nevada County, state law (PRC 4291) requires 100 feet of defensible space around your home, and the county’s vegetation ordinance backs it up. Overgrown weeds, blackberry, and brush are exactly the ladder fuels that carry fire to your house.

That’s the work I do most now: masticating, mowing, and clearing brush so your place meets defensible-space requirements — and so you sleep better come July.

Land Grading & Pads

Level, compacted building pads for a new shop, barn, or house. Graded right the first time so what you build on it stays put.

Concrete Block Retaining Walls

Hold back a slope, carve out usable yard, stop erosion. Solid block walls built to take our hillsides and our rain.

Drainage

Move water away from your house, driveway, and pad. Culverts, swales, and french drains that handle the winter wet.

About Vince · Since 1988

Thirty-seven years of dirt, and I still answer my own phone.

I started All Phase Excavating in 1988. For a long stretch I ran crews and big iron on just about every kind of dirt job there is. These days I’ve scaled back on purpose — I work solo, here in Penn Valley, and take the jobs I can do right.

That’s not a downside for you. It means no salesman, no subcontractor you’ve never met, no padded bid. You talk to me, I look at the work, and I give you a straight answer — even when the straight answer is “you don’t need me for that.”

Around here, your name is all you’ve got. Mine’s been good since 1988.
